A woman has died after she was struck by a falling tree branch in Sydney’s south-west as the city was lashed by fierce winds.
The woman, believed to be aged in her 60s, was hit by the branch as she pushed a shopping trolley on Castlereagh Street in Liverpool about 1pm.
Paramedics treated her at the scene, but she could not be revived.

Residents on the street told 9News it was common for branches to snap off in high winds.
“I feel terrible, very terrible and scared, I have family here, you never know which kid could be walking around and then a thing like this happens,” one local said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
